Black cumin, Nigella sativa, produces seeds which, when cold-pressed, yield therapeutic amounts of beneficial fatty acids and thymoquinone. This annual herbaceous plant is indigenous to the Mediterranean region, yet has a history of use exceeding three thousand years throughout the Middle East, Northern Africa, and parts of Asia.
